JOIN THE GROUP
To join, you need a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) (Aeroplane) or a higher fixed-wing licence, and a Class 2 aviation medical certificate or higher on joining. We’ll help you arrange your share purchase and aircraft checkout.
Arrange a visit by email or phone. See the aircraft and talk through your flying plans. The Flight Captain reviews your logbook and provides a recommendation for membership, then sets the checkout to suit your experience.
The group will coordinate share availability and the transfer or purchase with you, and explain the company membership and booking arrangements.
Arrange an aircraft-specific checkout with an approved instructor through the Flight Captain. All new shareholders complete a checkout before flying the group’s aircraft in command.
Meet the group ↗Membership and booking details follow the group’s January 2022 Rules of Operation (9th edition); we’ll confirm any updates when you join.
Yes, members can take an aircraft away overnight or plan a longer tour. Under the group rules, bookings can be up to 21 days; longer trips need Flight Captain approval. The Board may set a shorter booking limit when needed to keep aircraft access fair.
Plan around other members’ bookings and aircraft maintenance. Applicable standing charges can add to the flying cost when a booking falls below the required minimum flying time. The Board decides whether to apply these charges; the rules include conditions for bookings beyond seven days and allowances for weather or unserviceability. Discuss the dates and any charges with the group before committing to a trip.
Choose an aircraft for your touring →Shared ownership suits pilots who want to fly familiar aircraft and take part in looking after them. You pay the annual levy even in years when you fly less, and share bookings with other members.
