How is fuel bought away from Bankstown credited?

Send us your receipt and we’ll credit $3.35 per litre against your flying charges. You only cover any amount above that rate. If you find cheaper fuel, you keep the saving.

Are landing fees included in the flying rate?

No. Away-airport landing and parking fees are passed through at cost when the supplier invoice arrives, so they may appear after your flight invoice. Bankstown movement fees are billed separately under the group’s daily and shared-use rules.

What is Alpha Aviation?

Alpha Aviation is a members-only company share ownership group, established in 1964 and based at Bankstown Airport in Sydney. Members fly a Piper Archer II VH-KTN and a Piper Saratoga SP VH-OAZ after an aircraft-specific checkout.

Is this an aircraft hire business or a flying school?

Alpha is a company share ownership group, not a public aircraft hire service or flying school. If you are learning to fly or need occasional hire, compare local schools and hire operators as well as shared ownership.

What does membership cost?

Membership is $3,000 AUD for 1,500 company shares, an annual levy of $3,200 AUD payable quarterly, and wet tacho-hour rates of $302 AUD for the Archer and $404 AUD for the Saratoga. Wet rates include fuel and GST.

Are shares currently available?

Tom, our membership contact, can help with share availability and arrange a visit to meet the group.

Can I take an aircraft away overnight?

Yes. Members can take an aircraft away overnight, with bookings up to 21 days under the group rules and longer trips with Flight Captain approval. Shared bookings, maintenance and applicable standing-charge conditions still apply; the Board can set a shorter booking limit when needed.

What experience do I need?

You need a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) (Aeroplane) or a higher fixed-wing licence, and a Class 2 aviation medical certificate or higher on joining. The Flight Captain reviews your logbook and provides a recommendation for membership, then arranges the aircraft-specific checkout with an approved instructor before you fly in command.

How do I enquire about joining?

Start with an email or phone enquiry and arrange a visit to meet the group. The Flight Captain reviews your logbook and recommends membership. The group then coordinates your share transfer or purchase, followed by an aircraft-specific checkout with an approved instructor.

Where are the aircraft based?

Alpha Aviation is based at Hangar 663, 16 Drover Road, Bankstown Airport, Sydney NSW 2200, Australia. Arrange a visit with the group before travelling to the hangar.

Can I use the website documents for flight planning?

Website documents are reference material only, not an operational source. Confirm current approved aircraft documents, limitations and procedures with the Flight Captain before any flight.

Compare ownership and hire, or arrange a visit.
